Liszt Bicentenary at Kings Place

I love Kings Place, especially when it’s all lit up at night…

Kings Place

it has crazy beautiful sculptures outside…

and an amazing photography exhibition on at the moment in the Gallery by Keith Pattison.

But anyway, I digress…the reason I’ve actually been at Kings Place the last 3 nights is to document some concerts celebrating the bicentenary of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt.

On wednesday night Gergely Bogányi

and Barnabás Kelemen

played a selection of Liszt’s sonatas for piano and violin.

Thursday night saw Edit Klukon and Dezsö Ranki perform ‘Faust Symphony’….

and on Friday night it was the turn of Peter Broadbent

and his Joyful Company of Singers in Hall One….

as well as the Janósi Ensemble slightly later in Hall Two.

Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo Video Shoot

So…last Saturday I trekked over to Dalston to watch Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo have a video shoot for their new single ‘Calendar’, from the album ‘Almanac’, released on February 7th.

If you haven’t heard or seen this band then you goshdarn should have, they are briliiant.  Their song ‘Nostalgia’ was used for the Wallander theme tune didn’tcha know, and picked up a Royal Television Award for Best Orginial Score to boot.  6Music’s Nemone, made their single ‘Little Deaths’ her Single of the Week and they’ve had plays from Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq on Radio 2. They recently performed ‘Calendar’ on Radio 4′s ‘Loose Ends’, and they’re booked to play a session with Cerys Matthews on 6music early next month.

The video was shot in the beautiful rustic living room, courtesy of Fran and Jeremy, with an actual real fire, and of course, tea by the bucketload!

The girls worked their musical magic

while Jody and Henri got down to the business of filming.

If you live in London, come hear them perform at Arctic Circle’s St. Giles-in-the-Fields gig on the 24th of February, with Adrian Crowley no less! Event/ticket info HERE.

Lost in the forest…

So…the Christmas/New Year holiday was a time of upheaval, an opportunity for serious contemplation, and above all, involved an abundance of snow!  What better time to be out and about with a camera?!
